NEWS & PROPAGANDA 07.05.02 ------------------------------------------- - Andrew Macari's dancefloor reign - Morgan Page update - Gavin Froome everywhere - Button-Down Beats - NT on the road - chart from Luke ------------------------------------------- CAT: NT026-12" ARTIST: ANDREW MACARI TITLE: "TIME & SPACE" EP RELEASE: OUT NOW! via Prime Distribution "It's dirty, sexy underground house music at its best, and we love it." Burnitblue.com The 'Time + Space' EP is Andrew's debut for Nordic Trax, and 'Seven of Nine' is set to be one of the biggest tracks of the year with it's starry texture and federation-style bass line. Set dance floors to stun as 'Trek House' continues the groove on the B-side. 'Seven Of Nine' appears on the latest Mark Farina mixed-CD 'Connect', out now on Om Records (SF). Currently receiving support from DJ Raoul, Harri, Dino & Terry, Halo, Murray Richardson, Fred Everything, DJ Sneak, Marques Wyatt, ADN Records (Fr), David Duriez, Raul Campos (KCRW), Diz and Eddie Amador among many. Banged at parties since Miami, the ep just entered both the Black Market Sales Chart and the Vinyl Addiction Hype Chart at #15. Celebrate the release of the "Time + Space" EP this Sunday July 7th when Andrew Macari joins Marques Wyatt on the decks at Deep in Los Angeles, CA. There will be plenty of love from NT and the best deep house in the business; you can view the flier here. Audio samples downloadable photo, reviews and bio here. ------------------------------------------- CAT: NT025-CD/LP ARTIST: MORGAN PAGE TITLE: DRIFTING INTO VIEW RELEASE: CAN APR 2002, US JULY 2002, GER AUG 2002 "An impressive debut, for someone who's set for even greater things in the future." Jon Freer, pitchadjust.com May 2002 "Page's music owes as much to jazz, hip hop or even folk as it does to the legacy of Chicago or Detroit. A sonically-absorbing audio immersion experience." Kieran Wyatt, 7 Magazine April 2002 Look out for the latest issue of XLR8R (#59) featuring Morgan as guest house reviewer. In other news, Morgan's recent live sets in Vancouver, Calgary, Boston, Dallas and Austin were received with much enthusiasm, as Morgan presented an accomplished live PA of album tracks, unreleased material and hard to find remixes. Reviews for "Drifting Into Viewâ have been confirmed or can currently be found in BPM Magazine (LA), Minty Magazine(Sea), XLR8R, Seven and online at PitchAdjust.com, speedgarage.com and burnitblue.com Morgan's early material for Nordic Trax, taken from the Pathways Ep (NT015-12") is still among the top ten downloads at www.epitonic.com, so grab yourself a free taste if you still need more convincing. Audio samples, downloadable photo and bio here. For more info on Morgan please check out this article which ran in The Boston Weekly Dig here. ------------------------------------------- Gavin Froome is everywhere. The Low-pro don of deepish house recently played two stand-out live performances in Vancouver. May 9th on opening night of Vancouver's own New Music West Gavin brought the house down with fellow label-mate Morgan Page at the NT showcase at Sonar. More recently he opened for Norwegian jazzbo Bugge Wesseltoft June 21at the Commodore Ballroom for the opening night of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. The controversial gig included the addition of 4 live musicians for the second portion of the his set. While the dancefloor was clearly feelin' Mr. Froome, a local 'alternative' paper dismissed his performance because "what we got was more like the smell of jazz than anything of substance"; lucky for Gavin he was working on the smell of Burt Bacharach. Look for Gavin live this summer at Spundae (Los Angeles, CA) July 20, the Zen Festvial (Hope, BC) July 27 and Gravity Systems Festival (Montpelier, FR) August 16-18. Listen for the music of Gavin Froome: 'Bostonian' from Post+Beam was recently licensed to cult tv show 'Queer as Folk'. The episode originally aired June 16 in the US on Showtime and June 17 in Canada on Showcase, and will appear on repeat broadcast over the summer. Despite the bit above, Gavin has been receiving some great press as of late, check out this feature which ran recently in Vancouver's Westender: here. ------------------------------------------- CAT: NT028-CD/2LP ARTIST: Various Artists TITLE: Button-Down Beats RELEASE: FALL 2002 An original downtempo compilation from the NT massive, includes new material from regulars Gavin Froome, Scott Findley, Tom Churchill, Jon Delerious and Morgan Page as well as exclusive tracks from up & coming producers in Mexico, Finland & Germany.
