Gavin Froome 'Skunks' (NT013 - 12") released July
2000 - Necessary Pieces 2 - Nordic Trax @ Cannes - Sony chooses NT - chart from Luke ______________________________________________________ ARTIST: Gavin Froome TITLE: SKUNKS EP CAT#: NT013 - 12" RELEASE: July 17, 2000 via Prime side A 1. Skunks 2. Secretaria side B 3. Bostonian 4. Deeper Hot on the heels of his breakthrough debut LP 'Mobile Villager' for NT, Mr. Froome drops four new cuts for the discerning heads. The title track "Skunks" is Gavin's deepest excursion into the netherworld of dubbed-out tech house. Soaring stabs, a funky walking bassline and delicious beats make for a true dancefloor killer. Next up is "Secretariat", a plodding effort for the deejays; deep sensibilities dominate this sophisticated slice of club music. The flipside begins with "Bostonian", Gavin's long-mixing tribute to his new home on the East coast. Another lengthy intro provides the space to really let this track soar. Hold on for the deep chord drop and ride this one home. Finally "Deeper" closes out the EP with a mellow cut true to its name. Throbbing sub-bass tones collide with spacey vocals to provide for that perfect end of the night track. Check the current issue of www.untitledmusic.demon.co.uk for an excellent review of the 12". ______________________________________________________ Back from his debut @ London's Fabric earlier this month, Sonar resident and NT cohort Tyler 'T-Bone' Stadius found time to sift through another massive batch of unreleased DAT's and presents our next offering, 'Necessary Pieces 2' (NT014-CD/LP). The full-length release is the follow up to 1999's critically-acclaimed NT007CD 'Necessary Pieces', Tyler's first collection of deep house from Canada. The latest installment is a journey into deeper moods of house & dubby techno, featuring an eclectic cast of strictly underground Canadian producers. Released on double-vinyl & mixed-CD, 'Necessary Pieces 2' features music from across this large country, including Deja Vu, Peter Hecher, DJ Delerious, F.S.P., Ben Neville, Gavin Froome, Jay Tripwire, Mike Shannon & Sunkissed. Available September 2000 from Prime, look for tour dates this Fall. ______________________________________________________ Nordic Trax @ Cannes? no we weren't there with all the beautiful people at this year's edition of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, but our music was. Acclaimed French-Canadian filmmaker Denys Arcand (Decline of the American Empire, Jesus of Montreal) closed the festival this year with the World Premiere of his latest feature film 'Stardom'. The film features music from the Nordic Trax catalogue, including five cuts from "Necessary Pieces" (NT007CD) & four from "Mobile Villager" (NT010CD/LP), with selections from Gavin Froome, High Fidelity, Sea To Sky and Aaron Quist. 'Stardom' - In a celebrity obsessed world, everyone wants their 15 minutes of fame - until the price is too high to pay. The film provides a provocative exposŽ of our obsessed culture, a unique reflection of celebrity in which life imitates art, art imitates life, and the media imitates anything and everything. The movie stars Jessica ParŽ, Dan Aykroyd, Robert Lepage, Thomas Gibson, Camilla Rutherford, Charles Berling and Frank Langella. Coming this fall to a theatre near you....from Alliance/Atlantis. ______________________________________________________ Check these two Sony Mini-disc TV commercials featuring Gavin's music.
