NEWS & PROPAGANDA 02.23.02 The 2002 West Coast Music Awards announced their nominees, including Nickelback, Metalwood, Nelly Furtado and our very own Gavin Froome. Gavin finds his latest release 'Post + Beam' nominated for Best Electronic Album. The awards are March 7 @ The Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. In other Gavin Froome news, 'Post + Beam' has also been nominated in the Best Dance Album category at Canadian Music Week's Indie Awards, which celebrates the best in Canadian Independent Music. The awards event is Wednesday, Feb 27 @ Steam Whistle Brewery in Toronto. CMW runs Feb 27-Mar 3. On April 2nd Nordic Trax will be releasing the debut album of Bostonian Morgan Page, entitled 'Drifting Into View' (NT025-CD). Morgan recently performed a live preview of the album February 14 at the opening of the Virgin Megastore in Boston. Check it here. As well, on March 3 in the US on Showtime and March 10 on Showcase here in Canada, Morgan's track 'Pathways' plays as background music on an episode of hit cable show 'Queer As Folk'. Luke McKeehan & Gavin Froome just completed the final dates of the West Coast tour in support of 'Post+Beam'. Big ups to all those along the way: including Alluv, the Low Pro, Halo & Bert in San Diego; in Los Angeles Neil & all at Global Grooves, Wax, Into The Music and of course Spundae --nice work from Lee Burridge in the main room; in SF Paul Craven & the Passenger crew, Fil and all at Staple, and not to forget the awesome Josh aka IZ and Solar @ The Top, wicked vibe! In the Northwest the Zion's Gate massiv have got it going on, two stores rocking all styles in Seattle & Portland. Thanks to Uniting Souls & the Baltic Room in Seattle for hosting a wicked event that also included a live PA from BC's own Ben Nevile.
